So why would you want to perform a drum solo alone when you could perform a drum solo with a group a young students? Of course, you wouldn’t want to perform alone so this is why I invited some of the audience to play drums with me during a recent education concert. 
If you read “Sharing the Stage with a Tap Daddy – Part 1″ then you know my band Mithril had the opportunity to open up for Billy McLaughlin a few weeks ago at the Saenger Theatre of Mobile. Well, the Mobile Symphony recently posted a nice summary of the evening on YouTube. 
David Hughes discusses how a simple little melody was created, performed and recorded. “A young boy, filled with smiles and laughter, runs through knee deep muddy water as he chases his big brother. Minutes pass, the two boys run to shore and pick up a large net. Together they pull the net into the water, drag it out about ten yards, carve a large u-turn and drag it back to shore. As the net makes it’s way out of the water…” 
David Hughes offers his initial reactions to a great night of performing with the exceptional guitarist Billy McLaughlin. “Last night, I had the opportunity to share the stage with family, friends, and an exceptional guitarist I had never really heard before.” |
